1. What LampWay is

LampWay is a free, non-commercial website for reading the Bible. It publishes the text of the 66 books of the Bible in official translations, without interpretation, commentary or advertising. The site does not belong to, and does not speak for, any church, denomination or religious organization.

2. How verses are selected

The question feature selects passages of Scripture automatically, using search algorithms and an artificial intelligence (AI) model. The AI only chooses verse references; the verse text itself comes from the published translations.

Automatic selection may be incomplete, inaccurate or unrelated to your question. It may not take into account the context of the chapter, the book and the whole of Scripture, the historical and linguistic context, or the circumstances of your situation. The order of verses, their grouping and group labels are not an interpretation, evaluation or conclusion.

A selection of verses is a starting point for your own reading, not an answer, a conclusion or a guide to action. Always read verses in the context of the chapter and the whole book.

3. No advice of any kind

Nothing on the site is, or replaces, medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal, financial, tax, pastoral, spiritual or any other professional advice, consultation or recommendation. Do not make or delay decisions about health, treatment, money, legal matters, relationships or safety based on the site's content. For such matters, consult qualified professionals.

If you or someone near you is in danger, contact your local emergency services immediately. Information about help services on the site is provided for convenience only; we do not verify that it is current or available in your country.

4. Your responsibility

You alone decide how to understand what you read and how to act. Any decisions and actions taken on the basis of, or influenced by, the site's content are made by you, at your own discretion and at your own risk. You are responsible for your actions and their consequences for yourself and others.

If you are under the age at which you may accept these terms under the laws of your country, use the site only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

5. The site is provided "as is"

The site and all of its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We make efforts to keep translation texts identical to their sources and verse numbering correct, but we do not guarantee the absence of errors in import, numbering, display, search or selection. The site may be interrupted, unavailable, changed or discontinued at any time without notice.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the owner, creators, contributors and providers of LampWay shall not be liable for any damage, loss or harm, whether direct or indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential, including personal injury or death, emotional distress, property damage, lost profits, loss of data, and harm caused to you or to third parties, arising out of or in connection with the use of or inability to use the site, the selection of verses, errors, inaccuracies or incompleteness of content, or any decisions or actions taken on the basis of, or influenced by, the site's content. This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, negligence or otherwise), even if the possibility of such damage was known.

The site is free. If, despite the above, any liability is established, the total aggregate liability, to the maximum extent permitted by law, is limited to the amount you paid to use the site, which is zero.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain types of liability. In that case, the limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the owner, creators and contributors of LampWay from any claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms, your violation of any law or the rights of third parties, or your actions taken on the basis of the site's content.

8. Acceptable use

You may not: use the site for unlawful purposes; attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, servers or data; circumvent request limits; place excessive load on the site, including by mass or automated downloading of content; interfere with the operation of the site; or present the site's content or verse selections as the position of LampWay, a church or a denomination.

We may restrict or terminate access to the site for any user or device without giving reasons.

9. Translations, third-party services and links

Some translations are in the public domain; others are published under licenses from their rights holders (such as Biblica, Wycliffe and SIL) through YouVersion Platform. The rights to such translations belong to their rights holders; details of each translation are listed on the Translations page. Licensed texts may not be copied or distributed beyond what their rights holders allow.

The site uses third-party services and contains links to third-party websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, operation or data practices.

10. Rights to the site

The design, code, layout, selections and interface texts of the site belong to the owner of LampWay unless stated otherwise. Rights to Bible translation texts are listed on the Translations page.

11. Feedback

By sending feedback, you allow us to use it free of charge and without time limit to improve the site, with no obligation to reply or to act on suggestions. Please do not include names, contact details or other personal information, yours or anyone else's.

12. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms at any time. A new version takes effect when it is published on this page; the date of the current version is shown at the top. By continuing to use the site after changes, you accept the new version.

13. General

If any provision of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, it shall apply to the maximum extent permitted, and the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to exercise any right is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, form the entire agreement between you and LampWay regarding the use of the site. If language versions differ, the English version prevails.
